COME FOR THE ART … STAY FOR THE SHOW

ABOUT THE ART

LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS

One of the oldest traditions in the art world is for art students to learn about their craft by studying and copying the works of other artists, particularly works by artists already recognized as masters in their field.

This exhibit is intended to show that this practice is still in use, that modern-day artists still study artwork by former artists in order to understand and practice depiction of such things, and the techniques of using various artistic media such as pencil, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, brush and ink, and paint.

The artists whose work is represented in reproduction here date from the Renaissance up through the twentieth century.
